Nancy Pearl talked about some of her favorite books during an appearance at the Twisp library last week.
“America’s librarian” Nancy Pearl shared her reading recommendations with dozens of book fans at the Twisp library last week. Pearl recommended 15 books by wonderful but lesser-known authors who have captivated her in recent years.
Among Pearl’s suggestions are “1947: Where Now Begins,” by Swedish author Elisabeth Åsbrink, which captures history through a look at surprising contemporaneous events; “The Trouble with Goats and Sheep” by Joanna Cannon, a glimpse into a satisfyingly sinister British world; and “The Christmas Crocodile,” a children’s book by Bonny Becker illustrated by David Small.
A complete list is at the library, and all the books are available through the North Central Regional Library System.
The author of several nonfiction books about reading, Pearl also talked about her new novel, “George and Lizzie,” which tells the story of an unlikely marriage at a crossroads.
