Doris Helen (Kent) McConnell
1930-2018

February 8, 2018 by Methow Valley News

Doris Helen (Kent) McConnell

Doris McConnell passed away Jan. 12, 2018, at Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak. She was born in Eatonville, Washington, in 1930 and a few months later she and her parents settled into their home up the south fork of the Methow River, about 10 miles north of Winthrop.

She met John Watson while attending Winthrop High School. They married in 1948.

To this union were born her three sons, Spence, Mark and Dirk.

In 1967 she married the love of her life, Dale McConnell. They enjoyed road trips leading them to every state west of the Mississippi, seven trips to Alaska including a drive 63 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

She amazed everyone describing the smallest details of her journey through life; her memory was second to none.

She is survived by her sons Spence (Eve) Watson, Mark Watson, Dirk (Cindy) Watson;  sisters Elinore Drake, Joan Meyer, Nancy Kamstra, Judy (Al) Pock; brother Read (Irene) Kent; stepsons Eddy and Garry McConnell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her sister RuthAnna; her parents Floyd and Anna Kent; and her grandson Christopher Watson.

At her request, a family service will be held at the Beaver Creek Cemetery in the spring.
