The Liberty Bell Knowledge Bowl team won its fourth consecutive tournament this season at competition in Okanogan on Monday (Jan. 29), where 17 teams from seven schools took part.

Liberty Bell teams took 1st, 3rd and 5th places. Leading the way was Liberty Bell Team 1 — captain Noah Batson, Emerson Worrell, Lazo Gitchos and Tova Portmann-Bown — with a season-high 56 points. Second-place Manson trailed with 29 points.

In third was Liberty Bell Team 2 — captain Liliana Hart-Beck, Sam Neitlich, Michael Mott and Nicholas Fitzmaurice — with 28 points. Liberty Bell Team 3 — Wiley Seckinger, Lindsay Worrell and Nat Batson — accumulated 23 points for 5th place.

Liberty Bell — the defending state champion among 2B schools — will travel to Moses Lake next week for the mid-season Central State Invite. It will be the largest competition of the year, and an opportunity to compete against larger schools in preparation for the state tournament.

“This tournament prepares the teams for the rigorous post-season play by competing against larger 2A through 4A schools,” Liberty Bell coach Leverett Hubbard said. “It’s good to go against unknown teams. At this point in the season we know the other schools’ weaknesses and strengths.”
