Omak’s powerful 1A squad overmatched the Liberty Bell High School boys’ basketball team on the Pioneers’ home court, 61-17, on Dec. 19.
“It was a tough night against a good 1A basketball team for us,” Liberty Bell coach Kyle Acord said “We had a pretty good start, but from the second quarter on we struggled with turnovers and any kind of consistency in our offense.”
Omak outscored the Mountain Lions in the second quarter, 23-2, and cruised in the second half.
Junior Peter Aspholm led Liberty Bell with 5 points. Freshman Lucaas
Gonzales-Ortega grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Mountain Lions travel to the Cascade Hoops Classic in Leavenworth on Thursday and Friday (Dec. 28-29), and will play host Cascade High School in the first round. Liberty Bell is on the road to Manson on Jan. 2 and Tonasket on Jan. 4 before returning home against Bridgeport on Jan.6. The Mountain Lions are 0-5 in league play and 0-7 overall for the season.
