Jesse Charles, a family medicine physician, recently joined the medical staff of Confluence Health’s Methow Valley Clinic in Winthrop.
Charles said his interests include preventative medicine and “working with patients to teach them how to be healthy using exercise and nutrition.”
“I’ve also done a lot of work in behavioral health, depression and anxiety, particularly using behavioral approaches such as mindfulness and compassion-based training,” he said.
Charles joined the Methow Valley Clinic in October after completing his residency in Missoula, Montana, last summer. An avid mountain and rock climber and backcountry skier, Charles said he was looking for an opportunity to practice medicine in the West.
He had visited the Methow Valley on a previous vacation and said he is excited to live and work here.
Charles, 32, received his MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society and is pursuing a diploma in mountain medicine.
