Liberty Bell’s Katie Labanauskas blocks an Omak return as Hannah Bakke looks on.

Despite showing bursts of power and consistency, the Liberty Bell High School volleyball team wasn’t able to catch the Omak Pioneers in a home match on Sept. 19, falling 3-1.

Omak started fast in taking the first set, 25-18. The Lady Lions rebounded to take the second set, 25-19, with some of their best play of the night. The Pioneers came back to claim the third set, 25-17.

Fighting to force a fifth set, the Lady Lions kept pace with Omak through the middle of the game, but eventually the Pioneers pulled away for a 25-18 win.

In other games last week, Liberty Bell lost at Tonasket, 3-0, and dropped a home contest to Brewster, 3-0.

The Lady Lions played at Soap Lake on Tuesday (Sept. 26) and will host Bridgeport on Thursday (Sept. 28). Varsity play begins at 6:30 p.m. Liberty Bell will stay at home to play Waterville on Saturday (Sept. 30), starting at 1 p.m.
