Born Oct. 1, 1983, Jonathan Andrew Stern spent his youth in Winthrop, with the exception of a year in Germany as an exchange student during his junior year in high school. After graduating from Liberty Bell High School in 2002, Jonathan tried school in Colorado, lived in California and settled in Bend, Oregon, eight years ago.
Jonathan had a heart of gold and was wonderful with children, being able to relate with youngsters in a way that few adults could. Jonathan had such a love of this valley and the outdoors, that we will honor his life with an outdoor celebration.
Jonathan is survived by his parents, Chris and Cathy of Winthrop; his brother Adam and his wife, Myfanwy, and their children, Jonathan’s niece Anwen, and nephew Sebastian, all of Mendoza, Argentina; and many other relatives scattered around the Eastern and Western states.
Jonathan died Sept. 20 in a car accident, along with his canine buddy Strider. There will be a celebration of his life at 72 Wolf Creek Road on what would have been his 34th birthday, Oct. 1, 2017, at 1 p.m. All who knew him are encouraged to attend. If you feel so inclined, donate to your favorite organization that benefits the young.
