The Methow Valley Killer Whales swim team won a dual meet against Brewster last week, then traveled to the Bearacudas’ home pool for the Brewster Invitational, where the Whales’ swimmers easily outdistanced the other three teams.

On July 11, Brewster traveled to the Wagner Memorial Pool in Twisp, where the Killer Whales prevailed by a combined score of 448-205. The Methow Valley boys topped Brewster, 221-86, while the girls outscored the Bearacudas, 227-119.
At the four-way meet in Brewster on July 15, the Killer Whales racked up 744 points in combined scoring. The Okanogan Bullfrogs were second with 467 points, the Bearacudas scored 414, and the Omak Manta Rays were fourth with 274.
The Killer Whales took first place in 41 of the 96 events at Brewster, and added 31 second-place and 23 third-place finishes.
Between meets, Killer Whale team members were all in the Wagner Pool for the annual swimathon on July 13. Each swimmer solicited pledges for a per-lap amount, or a fixed amount, to raise money for the team. The total raised won’t be known until later this month.
The Methow Valley team hosted Okanogan on Tuesday (July 18), and will compete at the Omak Invitational on Saturday (July 22).
