Burn ban imposed in Okanogan County

June 28, 2017 by Methow Valley News

Okanogan County has declared an outdoor burn ban effective Saturday (July 1).

The ban prohibits outdoor burning, including yard waste and agricultural burning. Gas- or charcoal-fired barbeques are allowed.

County commissioners imposed the ban as a result of weather that is creating hazardous fire conditions.

In announcing the burn ban, the county advised that people visiting or recreating on state, federal or tribal lands contact the appropriate agencies to find out if a burn ban is in place on those lands.

For Department of Natural Resources, call 1-800-323-2876; for the U.S. Forest Service call the Methow Ranger District, 996-4003; for the Colville Confederated Tribes, 509-634-3100.
