Congressman Dan Newhouse announced Wednesday (April 19) that he will not be able to attend a scheduled “listening session” in Brewster on Thursday (April 20) because of recent complications in his wife Carol’s treatment for cancer. The session will go on with staff from the 4th District congressman’s office in attendance.
“There have been recent complications, but we remain hopeful as Carol receives care to regain her strength. I need to be with my family as we face this challenge together,” Newhouse said in a Wednesday post on his Facebook page.
“This was a hard decision for me to make because I had planned to hear in person from constituents in Okanogan, as I have in Grant County and the Lower Valley listening sessions last week, but due to this family emergency, my staff will be available tomorrow in Brewster to meet with constituents. I will host an additional listening session in Okanogan to be scheduled in the future,” Newhouse said in the Facebook post.
A Newhouse staffer said Wednesday that people who have pre-registered for the event are being notified of the change. The session is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Brewster High School. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
