Enid Pauline Shaw, 100, of Carlton, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 15, 2017, with family by her side. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on Sept. 16, 1916, to James and Polly Gobat. They later moved to Pateros, where Enid spent her younger years growing up.
Enid moved to the Methow Valley in her early 20s and married Roy Richard Shaw and raised her five children and later three grandchildren after she retired from the school district. Enid lived through many changes in the world and in her life. In her later years, she loved to share memories with everyone and enjoyed the company of her dog Lady.
Enid touched numerous lives and was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and remembered by her strength and perseverance.
Enid is preceded in death by her parents and brother; her husband, Roy Richard Shaw; and children Lynn Harwood, Warren Shaw and Wendy Shaw-Surface. Enid is survived by her sister Evelyn Holt of Ephrata; and sons Marshall Shaw and Jim (Marlene) Shaw of Twisp. Surviving grandchildren are Pat and Lee Odegard of Spokane, Richard and Kim Shaw of Tri-Cities, Brian Shaw of North Dakota, Roy Wilson of Carlton, Irene Surface of North Dakota, Amber Wilson, Rex Shaw and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Methow Cemetery for family and close friends only. A celebration of life with potluck will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at noon for all at the Carlton Community Church/Center, formerly known as the Carlton Restaurant.
