Guitarist Rico Stover is offering four free classes in guitar technique, strumming, rhythm, chord theory and the basics of harmony.
Stover is accepting six guitarists for one-on-one instruction in each class, but others can observe as auditors. Auditors are welcome to bring a guitar, because there are likely to be opportunities for questions or group instruction.
Stover has more than 50 years of experience as a performer, teacher and composer, and is a specialist in Latin American music for the guitar. The four classes will cover North and South American techniques and styles.
The classes will be at the Education Station at TwispWorks. All classes are on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dates are as follows: March 20, April 3, April 24 and May 8. Classes will not build on one another, so people can attend one or all of them.
Anyone interested in playing for Stover should have basic familiarity with the guitar and must call him at (509) 429-9593 to reserve a spot. Auditors do not need any special background.
