Four Liberty Bell High School basketball players have been accorded all-league honors in Central Washington 2B play for the recently concluded season.
Senior Lauren Fitzmaurice was named to the girls’ all-league first team, joining Marlissa Garcia of Brewster, Kayla Willis and Ellie Alberts of Tonasket and Kayla St. Pierre of Lake Roosevelt.
Junior Katie Labanauskas was named to the second team, and junior Lauren Ochoa was named to the third team.
Last year, both Fitzmaurice and Labanauskas were named to the all-league second team.
Fitzmaurice, Labanauskas and Ochoa were the top three scorers for a Lady Lions team that went 14-10 for the season after advancing to the district playoffs.
For the boys, the Mountain Lions’ leading scorer, senior Leif Portmann-Bown, was an honorable mention selection.
The Liberty Bell boy’s team received the league’s Sportsmanship Award.
At the recent boys’ team banquet, sophomore Simon Studen was named the junior varsity most-valuable player; senior Zane Herrera was named outstanding defensive player; senior Carter Dornfeld was named most-inspirational player; sophompre Owen Hevly was named most-improved player; Portmann-Bown was named the varsity’s most-valuable player; and Herrera was given the Coaches’ Award.
The girls’ team banquet, where awards will be announced, was scheduled for Wednesday night (March 1).
