The Town of Twisp is considering building a single tennis court next to the swimming pool and basketball court, and extending an existing trail. The projects are in the Twisp Town Park.
If the extension is approved, the trail would run south along the Methow River and then west to Methow Street, a total of 240 more feet. The trail will be 10 feet wide and will have a compacted gravel surface. It will meet standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Construction of the tennis court will require clearing approximately 7,200 square feet on what is now a grass lawn. It will be topped with asphalt and surrounded by a chain-link fence. It will only be used during daylight hours.
Disturbed areas around the tennis court will be replanted as lawn. The town will plant native shrubs and grasses along the trail. Future plans include extending the trail further as agreements are worked out with property owners.
Portions of the project are within the 100-year floodplain and in shoreline and critical areas.
