It’s time to start thinking about two of the local holiday season’s most-important community events — Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Manger Mall. The programs provide assistance to local families in need of a little help shopping for gifts or getting Christmas dinner on the table.
The Neighbors Helping Neighbors holiday food baskets program will have a volunteer meeting next Thursday (Nov. 3) at 5:30 p.m. at The Cove II on Third Avenue in Twisp. Manger Mall will be hold its annual volunteer luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Methow Valley United Methodist Church from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Come and learn how you can help. For more information, call 996 – 4343.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors also supports The Cove’s aid and assistance program, which provides people emergency, short-term financial assistance with rent, utilities and more.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will be collecting non-perishable food items at all local schools as well as Hank’s Harvest Foods in Twisp, Evergreen IGA in Winthrop, and the Mazama and Carlton stores. Cash donations can be made through North Cascades Bank, or at www.thecovecares.com.
