Be a reader, or a listener, at ‘Writers Meeting Writers’

October 20, 2016 by Methow Valley News

Writers of all types can meet other writers and share their fiction, nonfiction or poetry in a casual setting over desserts and beverages at Sun Mountain Lodge on Oct. 29.

Writers can read their own work or listen to writing read by others. The work can be in progress or published, complete or an excerpt. The intent is simply to share writing — it is not a slam, a critique session or a performance. The first 16 writers to sign up get five minutes at the microphone.

Hosted by Write On The River, a writers’ group based in Wenatchee, “Writers Meeting Writers” (aka “Five Minutes of Fame”) is structured like the seasonal open-mic nights the group has hosted in Chelan and Douglas counties since 2008. The free event is an opportunity for Methow Valley residents to meet informally for a literary evening.

“Writers Meeting Writers” will be held in the Methow Room at Sun Mountain Lodge on from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Beverages and dessert will be available for purchase.

To register to read, email info@writeontheriver.org by Tuesday (Oct. 25).

Sun Mountain Lodge is offering specially priced rooms ($132, double-occupancy) for anyone attending the event. To reserve a room, contact Sun Mountain at 996-2211 or visit www.sunmountainlodge.com by Saturday (Oct. 22).
