Local pianist Michael Brady will present two concerts — on Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 — at The Merc Playhouse to benefit Room One, the nonprofit social services agency in Twisp.

The concerts — with the theme “A Recital/Lecture, the Subject Being Chopin” — will include the composer’s last major works for the piano as well as Brady’s commentary on them, on Chopin’s life at the time, and on the end of the composer’s nine-year relationship with the notorious writer Madame George Sand.

Chopin’s later works will include two nocturnes, the Polonaise-Fantaisie, Chopin’s Third Piano Sonata and other pieces.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $15, with keyboard-view seats available through advanced reservation for $15. Call 996-5002 to reserve those seats.
