Winthrop Mayor Sue Langdalen announced last week that she will be resigning from her position as of Sept. 1 because she and her husband, Jim, are moving out of the Methow Valley.

Langdalen ran unopposed in 2013 to fill the mayoral post. This is her second round in the mayor’s chair; her first term was from 2006 to 2010. She was also a council member when she ran for mayor the second time.

Langdalen is retired from her long-time position as a teller at Farmer’s State Bank in Winthrop.

The Town Council will soon begin considering how to fill Langdalen’s seat.
