North Cascades trails open

June 9, 2016 by Methow Valley News

Ten trails and areas within North Cascades National Park Service Complex have been opened for use, while other trails and areas will remain closed due to safety hazards in burned areas, the National Park Service said.

Thirty-two fires burned 12,231 acres across the park complex throughout the 2015 summer, closing many areas and trails. Additional areas may reopen throughout the summer after further evaluation and mitigation. For current information contact the Wilderness Information Center at (360) 854‑7245, North Cascades Visitor Center at (206) 386‑4495 ext.11, or Golden West Visitor Center in Stehekin at (509) 699‑2080 ext. 14.

Open areas are Newhalem area trails including Ladder Creek Falls Trail, Linking Trail, Lower Newhalem Creek Trail, To Know A Tree Trail, and Trail of the Cedars; Newhalem Campground Loops A and B; Newhalem group campsites; Upper Goodell Group Campground; and Upper Goodell climber access parking and routes into the Southern Picket Range.
