LEGAL NOTICE
Notice of Public Hearing
Mazama Land Exchange
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Okanogan Board of County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on May 2, 2016 to take public testimony regarding a proposed conversion of Okanogan County owned property acquired under IAC # 03-1098D, RCO 97-1181 for property of equal or greater value.
The proponents propose to trade 3.39 acres of property owned by Pasayten Peak, LLC (Pasayten Peak Trade Property) for 1.44 acres of the above-referenced 2.0 acre parcel owned by the County (County Trade Property). The properties proposed for this exchange are located in Mazama, WA
The 2.0 acre County land was acquired in 1998 through a grant, IAC #03-1098D, RCO 97-1181 from the state’s Recreation and Conservation Office (“RCO”), to provide trailhead parking, and any trade or conversion of the subject property requires the approval of the RCO.
The County land was acquired to provide a public facility for parking and trailhead use, and the exchange of properties will provide a better and safer parking area that serves an important component of our economic base, by significantly increasing trailhead parking capacity and improving safety conditions along Lost River Road and Goat Creek Road during all seasons.
Appraisals of each of the trade properties was completed by Rick Witt, Certified General Appraiser Washington State- 1100112
The public hearing will be conducted on May 2, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Auditorium in the Virginia Grainger Building in Okanogan, Wa. Verbal testimony will be taken. Written comments may be submitted at the hearing. Written comments will be accepted prior to the hearing and may be submitted in writing or electronically to Lalena Johns, Clerk of the Board, at 123 5th Ave N Ste 150, Okanogan, WA 98840 or at ljohns@co.okanogan.wa.us.
Date of publishing is March 30, 2016.
