Five Mountain Lions earn All-League recognition
Team awards for the Liberty Bell High School boys’ and girls’ basketball programs were announced at team banquets during the past week. All-League teams were also announced, with a total of five Mountain Lions earning All-League honors.
Seniors Connor Cooley and Micah Klemmeck were named to the Central Washington boys’ 2B North All-League second team. Senior Ben Klemmeck received honorable mention. Five of the six players named to the All-League first team are from Brewster High School.
At the team’s awards banquet on Monday (Feb. 29), Micah Klemmeck was named most-valuable player and senior Chase VanderYacht was named most-inspirational. Cooley and Ben Klemmeck received the coach’s award. Senior Andrew Reggiatore earned best defensive player honors, and junior Leif Portman-Bown was named most-improved player. Junior Zane Herrera was named the junior varsity’s most-valuable player.
Junior Lauren Fitzmaurice and sophomore Katie Labanauskas were named to the Central Washington girls’ 2B North All-League second team. Liberty Bell won the league’s team sportsmanship award for the second consecutive year.
At the team’s awards banquet last week, senior Monica Chavey and junior Exie Romero received the captains’ award. Romero was also named most-inspirational player. Fitzmaurice received the coaches’ award. Fitzmaurice and Labanauskas were co-winners of most-valuable player honors.
For the junior varsity squad, Emily Paul received the most-inspirational award, Amanda Dwinell was voted most-valuable player, Ava Mott was named the most-improved player, and Megan Dammann and Amanda Dwinell were named co-captains.
