Liberty Bell High School will send eight varsity wrestlers to the sub-regional competition in Kittitas on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12–13).

Coach Gunnar Doggett summarized the Mountain Lions’ performances at last weekend’s district meet in Tonasket:

  • Meritt Fink beat Riley Prescott of Okanogan in the 145-pound finals for first place.
  • Jacob McMillan beat Zach Lofthus of Tonasket in the 170-pound finals for first place.
  • In the 152-pound division, two Liberty Bell wrestlers faced off, with Kaleb Martin taking third place and Finlay Holston taking fourth place.
  • Mason Johnson defaulted by injury to sixth place in the 182-pound division.
  • Ivan Johnson finished in fourth place at 170 pounds.
  • Alex Garcia-Lopez lost his first two matches but will go the regionals as an alternate.
  • Tanner White took third place in the 132-pound division with a victory over Sean Epley of Okanogan.

Fink and McMillan are at or near the top of statewide rankings in their weight classes.
