Tune up for the Wolf Chase
The annual Wolf Chase race will be on Feb. 6 and 7 at Loup Loup Ski Bowl, hosted by the Loup Loup Alpine Race Team. The event is expected to draws hundreds of out-of-town racers and their families for the weekend. The giant slalom race will be on Saturday and slalom race will be on Sunday. Ski for Women at Mazama
Methow Valley Ski for Women, a Nordic event for women of all ages and abilities, will be on Feb. 7 at the Mazama Community Club. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and skiing events at 10:30 a.m. The event is free but donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going to Room One. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded.
The Freestone Inn will host a free lunch for participants, and Methow Trails will waive trail fees.
Competition includes a 1-kilometer girls’ race; a 3K competitive race; a 3K relay race (for teams of three); and 1K and 3K fun skiing events.
Volunteer instructors will be available to teach the basics. The Methow Valley Ski School in Mazama is offering skis, boots and poles for $10 per person for participants. Register at www.roomone.org; call 996-4228 or 996-8080 for more information.
