Comment on zoning, Public Health proposals

January 7, 2016 by Methow Valley News

In late December, the county commissioners extended an interim zoning ordinance until June 22 so they can consider proposed changes.

The Planning Commission will discuss the proposed zoning code — which covers many things beyond nightly rentals — on Monday (Jan. 11) at 7 p.m. in the commissioners’ hearing room in Okanogan.

They won’t be taking any testimony at that meeting, but they are accepting written comment. There will be at least two public hearings, one before the planning commission and one before the board of commissioners, before the new zoning code is adopted.

The working draft of the zoning code (from Oct. 16, 2015) and maps are available on the Planning Department website at www.okanogancounty.org/planning. Click on the links next to “Zone Code” (not “Interim Zone Code”).

Send comments to Rough at brough@co.okanogan.wa.us or call (509) 422-7122 for more information.

The Board of Health will consider the proposed OTA regulations on Tuesday (Jan. 12) at 1:30 p.m. in the public services building in Okanogan.

Copies of the proposed regulations are available from Hilton at (509) 422-7144 or dhilton@co.okanogan.wa.us, or Harr at (509) 422-7155 or mharr@co.okanogan.wa.us. They are also available online at www.okanogancounty.org/ochd.

The public can comment in advance by writing to either Hilton or Harr, or provide input at the hearing.
