Senior News: Dec. 16, 2015

December 16, 2015 by Methow Valley News

MVSeniorCenterNotes

This month is going so fast — only four more days left of the Christmas Sale. So just about everything is $3 a bag now.

Monday (Dec. 21) is our last day for meals at the center before Christmas, and on that day we will have Santa, goodie bags and a gift exchange. If you would like to be involved in the gift exchange, please bring a small gift. And for that Christmas dinner we are going to be treated to prime rib. You have to be over 60, and Donna would like you to sign the list if you are going to come. That way she will know how much to prepare.

On Friday (Dec. 18) we will have our gift basket drawing, and Howard Betty made another rolling pin so we will have that drawing also. You must be signed in and eating lunch.

There have been so many local people passing away in the last few weeks — we would just like to send our condolences to all their families.  Ken Grube was one of our regular diners. Will miss visiting with him at lunch. I didn’t know him well, but he was very interesting to visit with.

Jim Parrish will be moving into Jamie’s Place very soon, back home to Winthrop.

Watch the ice – it’s everywhere, and we don’t need any broken bones.

The Thrift Store is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

The Senior Center is located next to the Methow Valley Community Center on Highway 20 in Twisp. Lunch is served at noon by the Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition Program on Monday, Thursday and Friday. The suggested donation for lunch is $3.50 for seniors over age 60; the cost is $8 for those under 60. Annual membership dues are $1.25.

Transportation is available locally for the senior lunch program, and for monthly trips to Omak/Okanogan the second Tuesday of the month and to Wenatchee the third Tuesday of the month. Call the Senior Center at 997-7722 for additional details.
