The National Weather Service in Spokane now has us under a Flood Advisory until 12:15 a.m. Thursday night (Dec. 10). This advisory covers the Idaho Panhandle as well as most of northeastern Washington state. Heavy rain is forecast for the entire area through midweek, with snow levels rising to above 6,000 feet today. Total rainfall of 1–2″ are expected in the valleys, with 2–4″ in the mountains. Field flooding in frozen areas as well as rock and mud slides in steeper zones are expected.
Rises in small streams with poor drainage, or those clogged by ice, are expected though primary waterways are not expected to rise significantly. Areas below burn scars and the snow line will likely see significant rises in stream levels.
