Methow At Home, a nonprofit whose mission is to help local senior citizens live in their homes as independently as possible and remain active in the community, began formally operating on Tuesday (Dec. 1), coordinator Deirdre Cassidy said.
Methow At Home is a membership organization that will rely on volunteers to assist its members with day-to-day activities. “Going ‘live’ means that people who are members can request services from community volunteers” by calling the organization, or by using its website (www.methowathome.org), Cassidy said.
Services might include driving members to appointments, shopping, errands, etc.; minor handyman services; light housekeeping, gardening or snow shoveling; personal support like pet walking, meal preparation or help de-cluttering, and more.
Methow At Home will also organize activities for its members, Cassidy said.
Cassidy reported this week that Methow At Home has 78 members and 53 volunteers.
