Matthew Jones

In the early hours of the morning on Oct. 28, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospice House in Bellingham, our good friend and golfing buddy, Matthew Jones, left this world peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Matt was born on Feb. 11, 1940, as one of four children (to Owen and Samara Jones) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Many around the valley knew Matt for the Java Man Espresso Bar, the first strictly espresso joint in the Methow. He was preceded in death by his son Matt Jr., ex-wife Lene’, and eldest brother Otee. He leaves behind his sisters Onita Beard and Gladys Ruth Jones, and brother Ed Jones, as well as daughter Sharri, and sons Victor, Dustin, Michael and Ben Jones. A service was held at the Twisp Valley Grange on Nov. 28.
