Supporters of the Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink (WISR), who are working hard to get the rink’s new facilities ready for the coming winter, need volunteer help with the final push.
Refrigeration equipment has been installed to keep the ice surface available all winter, and other facilities have been expanded at the outdoor rink. While state grants have paid for many of the improvements and contractors have done much of the work, volunteer help has been crucial in making sure the rink is completed.
WISR volunteer coordinator Laurie Ullmer said help is needed in the following areas:
• Sanding and staining interior trim, which will be going on through Sunday (Nov. 15) at Larry Miller’s house west of Winthrop. No training or tools are required.
• Skilled workers are needed to help install the interior trim and flooring beginning on Saturday.
