Arts briefs: Nov. 11, 2015

November 12, 2015 by Methow Valley News

Herb and Dorothy at movie night

Movie night at Confluence Gallery in Twisp will feature Herb and Dorothy on Friday (Nov. 13) at 6:30 p.m. The film by Megumi Sasaki is about a New York postman and librarian who amassed one of the most important collections of conceptual and minimalist art in history with very modest means. Cost is $5; beer and wine will be available. For more information, call 997-2787.

Brady presents New Year’s Day concert

Local pianist Michael Brady will present a New Year’s Day solo concert on Jan. 1, 2016, featuring works by German Romantic composers, at The Merc Playhouse in Twisp. The concert begins at 2 p.m. and admission is by donation, with proceeds benefitting Room One, the health and social services center in Twisp.

Bach, Beethoven and Brahms will be part of Brady’s program, which has become an annual event.

“Because all of the donations will help stretch Room One’s resources that much further, your generosity will collectively become the gift of a happier New Year for some of those among us here who really need it the most,” Brady said in a press release.

For more information, call 996-5002.

Juried show for regional artists

All art submitted must be original, for sale, and completed in the last two years. There will be cash prizes for the winning artists.

Work must be dropped off on Nov. 21 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 S. Mission St., Wenatchee. The prospectus and entry form are available on the Museum’s website at www.wenatcheevalleymuseum.org. For more information, call (509) 888-6247.
