STOKES HOLDS LEAD OVER REIBER AFTER SECOND ROUND OF VOTE TALLIES

November 6, 2015 by Methow Valley News

Challenger Les Stokes continued to lead incumbent Roy Reiber in the race for a seat on the Okanogan County fire District 6 board of commissioners after the second round of voting results was reported Friday (Nov. 6) by the Okanogan County auditor’s office.

Stokes drew 808 votes, or about 52 percent, while Reiber drew 739 votes or about 48 percent, in the totals reported Friday. Reiber, who trailed by 90 votes after the first batch of votes was counted, narrowed Stokes’ lead somewhat. The county auditor’s office reported that about 385 ballots remain to be counted countywide. The next round of vote tallies will be released on Thursday (Nov. 12). The auditor’s office reported a voter turnout of about 43, compared to a 26 percent turnout reported earlier in the week after the first batch of votes was counted.
