Barbara Jean Duffy-Cunningham passed away at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane on Oct. 11, 2015, at the age of 76. Barbara was born and raised in the Winthrop/Twisp area and graduated in Winthrop. She later moved to Spokane and was married to Michael J. Cunningham in 1963.
Barbara had many life experiences including being the owner of The Beehive Restaurant and Lounge in Cheney, Washington, and became a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she crocheted many sock slippers and sent Christmas cards to veterans.
Barbara is survived by her six children: John Imes of Morrison, Colorado, Nannette Carucci of Seattle, Marie McKenzie of Cheney, Michelle Cunningham of Spokane, Cheryl Cunningham of Spokane, and Richard Cunningham of Cheney; brother Larry Duffy of Fairbanks, Alaska; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael. A potluck memorial gathering will be on Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion, 116 College Ave., Cheney.
