Sixth-graders celebrate their ascent to Maple Pass last week.

Students took time to look around from the Maple Pass vantage point.
Methow Valley sixth-graders hiked up to Maple Pass last week (Sept. 23 – 25) as part of the annual class camp out, a tradition started more than 25 years ago by retired teacher Steve Dixon.
The students also spent three days camping at Falls Creek Campground near the Chewuch River, partaking in outdoor education activities, learning how to work together in camp, and completing a project for the U.S. Forest Service.
Local retailers, farmers and restaurants contributed food for the campers.
