The Liberty Bell High School varsity volleyball team hosted Tonasket on Tuesday (Sept. 15), hoping to claim the Lady Lions’ first win of the young season.
On Saturday (Sept. 12), Liberty Bell fell to an experienced Waterville team at home, 3-0, losing games by scores of 18-25, 15-25 and 10-25, according to reports on the Liberty Bell Booster Club’s Facebook page.
In the season opener, the Lady Lions dropped a 3-1 match at Lake Roosevelt.
Liberty Bell will see plenty of action this week, visiting Oroville on Thursday (Sept. 17), then hosting Pateros on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Brewster on Tuesday (Sept. 22) at 5 p.m.
Last season, the Lady Lions were knocked out of a spot in the district tournament with a season-ending loss to Waterville. The team lost seven seniors who were on the 2014 team, but several experienced players from last year are back for the current season. Tim Boonstra is coaching the Liberty Bell varsity squad again this year. The junior varsity coach is Joni Stevie, assisted by Shannon Clay.
