Cutthroat Classic is back on

The Cutthroat Classic trail, postponed because of fire activity, has been rescheduled for Sept. 19. The field is full for the 11.1-mile race, which begins at Rainy Pass on Highway 20 at 8 a.m. and finishes at the Cutthroat Creek trailhead.

Work party at Blue Lake

A work party to restore the area around Blue Lake will be held on Sunday (Sept. 13), starting from the Blue Lake trailhead on Highway 20 at 9 a.m. The event is sponsored by the National Forest Foundation and U.S. Forest Service and is expected to last until about 1 p.m. Bring or wear the following: long pants, ankle-supported, sturdy hiking/work boots, a long-sleeved shirt, extra clothing layers and eye protection.The Forest Service will provide work gloves, hard hats and tools. Hunter education classes start

Washington hunter education classes will begin on Monday (Sept. 14) at the Twisp Valley Grange from 6 – 8 p.m. The class is free and all materials are supplied. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Classes will run from Sept. 15 – Sept. 18, from 6 – 9 p.m. each night, at the grange.
