There is a flashlight vigil scheduled for Sunday (Aug. 30) in Twisp Town Park.
The vigil is scheduled to be a one-hour event starting at 8 p.m. in the park at the north end of North Lincoln Street (across from Wagner Memorial Pool). Although the park normally closes at dark, special permission is allowing this short vigil to take place.
Organizers ask that people bring flashlights, electric candles and glow sticks as we come together to honor the fallen, appreciate those still fighting the fires and support each other as a community. No actual flames will be allowed.
A P.A. system will be set up by Aaron Studen from Twisp River Pub and Wrights will be bringing in portable toilets for the event. There will be no food or drink provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own refreshments, however it is illegal to have alcohol in the park without a special permit.
Everyone is invited and welcome, whether they live in the valley or are only visiting for a short time.
