Killer Whales win county championship in undefeated season

A panoramic view captured some of the competition at last weekend’s Okanogan County Summer Swim League championship meet at Wagner Memorial Pool in Twisp.

The Methow Valley Killer Whales swim team claimed another Okanogan County Summer Swim League championship on Saturday (Aug. 1), easily outdistancing three other teams at Wagner Memorial Pool in Twisp, and finishing the season undefeated.

Scoring from more than 120 events put the Killer Whales on top with 1,156 points. The Okanogan Bullfrogs were second with 456.5 points, followed by the Brewster Bearacudas with 273 and the Omak Manta Rays with 238.5.

The Killer Whales’ individual swimmers and relay teams took first place in about half of the events.

High point winners in each age category were:

• 17-18 boys, Charlie Thornton-White, Methow Valley

• 15-16 boys, Eden Davis, Methow Valley

• 15-16 girls, Tessa Orozco, Brewster

• 13-14 boys, (tie) Jed Butler and Nicholas Fitzmaurice, Methow Valley

• 13-14 girls, Madeline Bosco, Methow Valley

• 11-12 boys, Bodie Paul, Methow Valley

• 11-12 girls, Vicky Sanchez, Brewster

• 9-10 boys, Eamon Monohan, Methow Valley

• 9-10 girls, Ava Rothmeyer, Methow Valley

• 7-8 boys, Ryan Clough, Okanogan

• 7-8 girls, Helaina Remsberg, Methow Valley

• 6&U boys, William Freese, Omak

• 6&U girls, Nyah Frantz, Methow Valley
