Celebration in Oroville
Pacific Northwest Trail Days will be celebrated Saturday (Aug. 8) on Kernan Road in Oroville. The free event celebrates the Pacific Northwest Trail. There will be wildlife presentations, art demonstrations and music. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m.
A hike through time
Methow Valley naturalist Dana Visalli will lead a guided hike in a canyon connecting Burge Mountain Road and the Highlands Sno-Park near Havillah on Aug. 16, an event sponsored by the Okanogan Highlands Alliance.
The free event, “A Walk Through Time in the Highlands: Ecology and Evolution at Our Feet,” requires pre-registration. Call (509) 476-2432.
This 3.6-mile hike is rated moderately strenuous, traveling mainly but not always on trails, with sections of uneven terrain and forest debris on the ground.
