New show at Winthrop Gallery

Winthrop Gallery will host an artists’ reception for its exhibit “Serendipity,” which features local artists Pearl Cherrington, Jim Neupert and Susannah Young, on Aug. 8 from 5 – 7 p.m. The exhibit opens Aug. 5 and continues through Sept. 14. For more information, call 996-3925.

Learning to sing

A song and voice camp that uses the solfège music education method will be offered Aug. 3 – 8 at Pipestone School of Music, in the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp. Solfège is used to teach pitch and sight-singing. Cost is $40; the camp goes from 4 – 6 p.m. each day. For more information, call (208) 651-4638.

News staffer’s photo in exhibit

A photograph taken by Methow Valley News designer Darla Hussey during last summer’s flooding will be part of “Wildfires and Us,” an exhibit opening on Sept. 4 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center. The show will include 131 photographs, most of them by John Marshall, along with other information exhibits and fire-related items. The exhibit runs through Nov. 21.
