Ice cream social at Classroom in Bloom

Classroom in Bloom will host an ice cream social on Wednesday (Aug. 5) from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., replacing the traditional garlic pull party. Hand-churned fresh ice cream and a variety of toppings will be served. The free event is open to the public. Also featured will be work by Winthrop Kiwanis members on the program’s learning circle. For more information, email classroominbloom@methownet.com.

First aid training

Learn first aid, CPR and other emergency response methods in a two-day training session on Aug. 25-26 at Aero Methow Rescue Service in Twisp. Cost is $40. The training is from 6-9 p.m. each day and attendance is required both days. For more information or to register, call 997-4013.

Take part in water quality survey

The Methow Restoration Council is asking the community and its visitors for feedback about their attitudes and understanding of water quality in the valley’s streams. Results will be used to help develop policies and actions to maintain and improve water quality.

To participate in the council’s survey, go to www.surveymonkey.com/XNR9S9M. Everyone who completes the survey and enters their email address will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate from Cinnamon Twisp Bakery. The restoration council is an informal body of agencies, tribes, nonprofits and local residents involved in aquatic restoration, land conservation and ecological monitoring in the Methow River watershed. For more information about the council or the survey, email John Crandall at john@methowsalmon.org.
