Senior News: July 15, 2015

 Notes

It has been a very busy month for me and I am sure everyone else, with the Fourth of July, company visiting, reunions, the heat and trying to stay cool. I hope everyone enjoyed the Twisp parade. I got to enjoy it with a lot of family members.

Lois Chavey is the senior of the month for July. She is another very busy lady with all her volunteering at The Cove. Congratulations, Lois.

Our members’ barbecue is on July 28. If you are a member you will be treated to one of John’s hamburgers and all the trimmings to go with it.

Join us for bingo on Thursday. July 31 will be gift basket day.

The mystery of the wet floor in the back hall is solved. The mop was the culprit. It got turned over and all the liquid leaked out. Some of the gals got really excited — they thought we had a bad leak.

Our new dining room floor is going to be put in on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be so nice to get rid of that dirty, stained, ragged carpet. It’s had a rough life with all the traffic it gets.

The Thrift Store is open on Saturdays during Farmers Market hours. The shop is also open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Senior Center is located next to the
Methow Valley Community Center on Highway 20 in Twisp. Lunch is served at noon by the Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition Program on Monday, Thursday and Friday. The suggested donation for lunch is $3.50 for seniors over age 60; the cost is $8 for those under 60. Annual membership dues are $1.25.

Transportation is available locally for the senior lunch program, and for monthly trips to Omak/Okanogan the second Tuesday of the month and to Wenatchee the third Tuesday of the month. Call the Senior Center at 997-7722 for additional details.
