Teaching artists Laura Gunnip and Matt Armbrust recognize the artistic merits of Art Intensive participant Ilo Curtis.
Fifteen kids ages 12–16 participated in last week’s Young Adult Art Intensive at TwispWorks — a three-day art camp designed to “encourage kids to think about art in new ways,” according to co-leader Matt Armbrust. Camp participants primarily focused on sculpture and printmaking.
At an exhibition and awards ceremony Friday evening (June 26), Jessica Marker received the Rocking Horse Bakery Juried Prize; Phoenix Doran received the TwispWorks Juried Award; Madeline Bosco received the Blue Star Directors’ Choice 3-D Juried Award; and Jennifer Colvin received the Blue Star Directors’ Choice 2-D Juried Award.
Art created at the camp will be on display in the mobile Spartan Art Gallery at Arts Fest on Saturday (July 4) in the Twisp park. After that, the Spartan will be moved back to TwispWorks, where the teen art will be on display through July, Armbrust said.
