State park managers are proceeding with plans for a new trail on the west and south sides of Pearrygin Lake. The trail would add 3 miles to the existing Rex Derr trail, with 2.5 miles on the lake shore, plus half a mile to trail access on Bear Creek Road.
Once completed, the Rex Derr Trail would provide a 6.5-mile trail for hikers and bikers in Pearrygin Lake State Park.
Park managers have applied to Okanogan County for a shoreline permit in conjunction with trail construction. The trail will go along wetlands but not within the 100-year floodplain. Plans call for a new trailhead and parking for up to 20 vehicles. The trail would be completed in spring 2016.
