Big trout for Dad
Fish hatchery crews with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will be stocking 10,000 large rainbow trout in 20 lakes around the state just before Father’s Day weekend, June 20 and 21. In Okanogan County, Alta Lake will be stocked with 350 fish, and Conconully Reservoir will be stocked with 750. All of the lakes that will be stocked with the 15- to 17-inch fish have good shore and boat access, WDFW said.
Special hunt permits allotted
Hunters who submitted applications for 2015 special-hunt permits can check the results of this year’s drawing on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) website. The results of the random, computerized drawing were verified June 11 and can be seen at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhuntlookup. Holders of the special permits can hunt at times and locations beyond those authorized by a general hunting license. Successful applicants will receive their special hunt permits in the mail by mid-July.
