Water shut-off in MVID next week
The east side pipe serving Methow Valley Irrigation District members will be shut down for a day next Tuesday (June 23) to repair leaks and finish installing take-outs.
The shutdown, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., will affect customers served by the new piped system from Mill Hill near the Twisp industrial park to Beaver Creek, including MVID members within the town of Twisp.
News wins two SPJ writing awards
The Methow Valley News won two awards in the Western Washington chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest, for stories published in 2014.
Reporter Ann McCreary won second place in the environment and science reporting category for non-daily papers for a story about post-fire landscape recovery that appeared in the Trial by Fire special publication.
Former sports writer Mike Maltais won first place in the sports reporting category for non-daily papers, for a story he wrote about skiers from the Methow Valley who competed in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
Results were announced last weekend.
