Mila Jury, the chief deputy auditor and election supervisor for Okanogan County, was recognized as county election employee of the year by Secretary of State Kim Wyman last week. Jury, who has 40 years of experience working in elections, was honored for providing leadership for her peers and offering feedback on election issues.
The secretary of state praised Jury for her “nerves of steel and great leadership” during last year’s wildfires. “She was unfazed and had a plan to manage elections manually if needed,” said Wyman.
“Mila conducts elections with integrity, efficiency and transparency,” said Okanogan County Auditor Laurie Thomas.
At the annual conference hosted by the Washington State Association of County Auditors where the award was presented, the group also went over new election practices for use at the county and state levels.
The Pierce County elections manager also received the award.
