Spring burning completed
The U.S. Forest Service has completed its prescribed burning for the spring, the agency announced this week. Crews are patrolling the burn units near Fawn Creek and Rendezvous Pass, and will continue until the units are free of any heat. Prescribed fire operations will resume later this year around mid-September or later depending on fuel conditions, weather, fire activity, and resource availability.
Several Forest Service employees are going through initial firefighter certification this week. They will be training with a live fire in a 1-acre area within the confines of the Upper Rendezvous 1 prescribed burn unit. Weather conditions permitting, the training will be conducted on Thursday (June 18).
