Bike Rodeo at Pearrygin Lake
The annual Bike Rodeo at Pearrygin Lake State Park will be on June 13 from 10 a.m.–noon. Registration for the free event begins at 9:45 a.m. in the east boat launch parking lot. The rodeo is for kids ages 5–12, and will focus on maneuvering skills, new skills in effective riding, and how to ride in traffic, and will include a helmet fitting and bike inspection.
All participants will be required to wear a helmet. Helmets will be available to borrow for those who don’t have one. Donations will be accepted to purchase more helmets for use at future bike rodeos. Each participant’s parent or guardian must sign a permission slip. A Discover Pass is not required for parking that day. For more information, call 996-2370.
Feds waive fees this weekend
Fees will be waived at federally administered recreation day-use sites on Saturday (June 6), which is National Trails Day; and on June 13, National Get Outdoors Day. The fee waiver applies to day uses at U.S. Forest Service recreation sites in Oregon and Washington. This includes many picnic areas, boat launches, trailheads and visitor centers. Concession operations will continue to charge fees unless the permit holder wishes to participate. Fees for camping, cabin rentals, heritage expeditions, or other permits will not be waived.
