Mountain Lions soccer players rack up awards

Two Liberty Bell High School soccer players from the Mountain Lions’ first boys’ team to play in the state tournament have been named to the Central Washington 2B all-league team. Adrian Casillas was named to the defensive first team, while Jorge Lara was named to the offensive first team.

Charlie Thornton-White was named to the offensive second team, and Danny Rodriguez was named to the defensive second team.

Team awards were:

• Coaches’ Award — Rodriguez

• Most Valuable Player — Lara

• Most Inspirational Player — Brennan Quigley

• Most Improved Player — Rowan Post

• Golden Boot (most goals) — Lara

• Silver Boot (most assists) — Lara

On the junior varsity, the Coaches’ Award went to Nick Fitzmaurice; Most Valuable Player was Jed Butler; Most Inspirational Player was Henry Jones; and Most Improved Player was Wiley Seckinger.

The Liberty Bell boys’ team went to the state tournament for the first time in its 14-year history, and lost to Highland High School, 4-0, in the opening round.
