Methow Valley American Legion Post 143 has been awarded a $5,000 gift card from The Home Depot Foundation. The Community Impact Grant award will go toward purchasing materials for renovations at the Twisp American Legion Hall, according to Post Adjutant/Finance Officer Tristan Gilbert.

“We appreciate the services your organization is providing within the community,” wrote Erica Headlee of the Home Depot Foundation in the award notification. “We hope this grant will help you achieve your goals as set forth in your proposal.”

Renovation goals at the 50-year-old Legion Hall include replacing exterior doors; building handicapped accessible front and rear entrances; replacing windows; insulating ceilings and walls; installing a new ceiling; upgrading the kitchen and restrooms; trimming or removing trees; improving the parking area; and building a picnic area overlooking the river.
